Artificial intelligence this, artificial intelligence that. We’ve all heard the news of AI taking over the world, AI deepfakes wreaking havoc on our social media sites, and AI language models like ChatGPT doing our homework (or writing our college essays) for us. The possibilities seem endless. Where do we draw the line?

Maybe we should pause for a moment and think about the consequences of AI before we fall into a craze as a society. Just because something is being implemented doesn’t mean it ought to be. Beware the is-ought gap!! Do the pros really outweigh the cons?

In some instances, you can ask ChatGPT to pretend to be your friend, your grandma, or your professor. It can have conversations with you, despite not being human. It is a model “trained” on real-world data. Can it be creative?
